Sigrid Kuehnemund,
WWF-Canada (Oceans Program)
Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Sigrid leads WWF-Canada’s Oceans Program with a focus on sustainable fisheries and marine conservation, protection, habitat restoration and planning. In this capacity, she works to advance sustainable fisheries and marine conservation in Canada through federal government engagement, collaboration with other environmental NGOs and industry and partnerships with scientists, Indigenous groups and local communities. Sigrid has led advocacy work on securing minimum standards for marine protection, developing a national forage fish campaign, holding government accountable for meeting national and international commitments for marine planning and protection, and developing fisheries improvement projects. Prior to joining WWF-Canada, Sigrid held leadership roles in multiple programs with the Government of Canada in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans including Integrated Management, Marine Protected Areas and Fisheries Protection.
